Danone Russia introduced a free online training course on responsible consumption.
The training program consists of seven interactive lessons with video lectures and assignments. Students will learn how eating habits can minimize the amount of waste generated. Also, upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a gift from the company – a 30% discount for Danone products in the Perekrestok chain of stores. The course is available here. The Zero Waste concept is becoming increasingly popular in different countries of the world, promoting informed consumption and respect for natural resources. The introduction of this concept is extremely relevant to Russia, where food losses at the distribution and household stages amount to about 17 million metric tons annually. Danone’s Sustainable Development Plan until 2020 envisages a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 60% reduction in electricity and water consumption. Among the plans is also the secondary use of 25% of plastic, 75% of cardboard and 90% of paper used in packaging. In 2015, Danone CEO Emmanuel Faber signed the Consumers Goods Forum resolution committing Danone to halve food losses.
